Amit Samanta joined CMI as a Post Doc

Amit will join our research efforts on cryogenically freezing large molecules and particles, such as proteins and viruses. In particular, Amit will commission a new cryogenic buffer-gas cell setup, that will combine our novel particle sources and injection techniques with Helium buffer-gas cooling. The resulting “shock-frozen” biological species will allow us to extend the range and sensitivity of our particle control methodologies, and pave the way for future single-particle diffractive imaging experiments.
