Tom Sharples visits CMI to learn about cluster-species preparation

07 May, 2018

For future experiments on the reactivity of species-selected molecular clusters, Tom wanted to investigate cluster separation and learn very the details of these approaches.

Tom Sharples is a lecturer at Herriott-Watt University in Edinburgh. He joins the CMI group as a scientific guest  from 7. May to 15. June 2018 in order to perform first experiments on the spatial separation of hydrogen bonded molecular clusters. Understanding the technological challenges and corresponding solutions in the setup and operation of the electric deflector will enable him to implement the deflection technique into his own experiments, reaching our for new frontiers in chemical reactivity studies.
