In my dissertation project, I develop novel strategies for electrospray vaporization of biological samples. The electrospray sources will be able to generate aerosols of small nanoparticles with high efficiency. While operating in the cone-jet mode, the electrosprayed liquid droplets carrying the biological sample will be reduced in size through series of coulomb fission and sample evaporation, which will eventually leave only the isolated particles of interest.
