Research

In a joint experimental and theoretical research project, I investigate the ultrafast dynamics in the indole-water complex. The indole and water molecules are connected by a hydrogen bond. If this hydrogen bond is broken, various products can be formed and interesting dynamics can take place. I will develop a microscopic model for this bond breaking process, that we will test and verify using experiments. The aim is to construct a theoretical as well as an experimental molecular movie, that can be compared with each other. In this way, we will be able to get a better understanding of the ultrafast dynamics of the hydrogen bond breaking and formation in indole-water.
