Armando Estillore won a Poster Prize at the 2022 Gordon Research Conference: Diffraction Methods in Structural Biology

29 July, 2022

Armando Estillore, postdoctoral researcher in the Controlled Molecule Imaging Group (CMI) was awarded poster prize at the 2022 Gordon Research Conference: Diffraction Methods in Structural Biology Lewiston, Maine, USA.

Armando won the poster prize for his presentation on “Shock-frozen beams of biomolecules and nanoparticles for single-particle-diffractive and cryogenic-electron-microscopy imaging”. The theme of this year's Gordon Research Conference: Diffractive Methods in Structural Biology, entitled “Breaking Down the Barriers in Structural Biology into Defined, Measurable and Solvable Problems”, focused specifically on the question: What new biological systems and methods could be the next great structural challenge given this data-rich revolution?

The prize consists of a certificate along with giving a talk on the last day of the GRC. The 2022 GRC: Diffractive Methods in Structural Biology is a prestigious conference held every two years to advance the frontiers of structural biology. The COMOTION team of the Controlled Molecule Imaging Group (CMI) is developing innovative methods to be used in solving problems in Structural Biology. We bring our multi-disciplinary research approach to the fore to enable us to bridge different research themes.
